Certeva’s support for the
UN Sustainable Development Goals
Goal 1: End poverty in all its forms everywhere
Children are more likely to live in poverty than adults [1]. Globally, almost 1 in 3 children live in poverty [1]. Of these, 383 million children live in extreme poverty (less than PPP USD 1.90 a day) [1]. Even in high income countries, an estimated 1 in 7 children are deprived of their fundamental human rights to good nutrition, health, water, education, protection and shelter [1].
Through awareness building and charitable giving, Certeva supports UNICEF’s efforts to end child poverty. UNICEF works at a national and international level to end extreme poverty and reduce child poverty.
Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
One in nine people do not have enough food to eat [2]. In 2020, the World Food Programme helped 100 Million people in 88 countries through emergency food distributions and nutrition support programmes [2]. In recognition of the WFP’s outstanding contribution, the WFP received the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize [3].
Certeva is proud to support the World Food Programme – the world’s largest humanitarian organization. For every person catered for by Certeva (employee or attendee at a company run event), we pledge to donate:
Two meals to the World Food Programme; or
10% of the total food bill;
(whichever has the greatest monetary value).
Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
As an expert in producing robust, impactful and easy to use market access materials, we strive to combat communicable and non-communicable diseases through our client work.
Our disease awareness materials engage stakeholders and raise awareness of the burden of disease. Certeva product monographs and access pitch decks help drive access to safe, effective and quality medicines. As experts in health economics and pricing, we help our clients maximize access and ensure affordable access for all.
Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
Women are often subjected to greater levels of discrimination due to their gender compared to men [4]. Furthermore, women with disabilities face double discrimination resulting in fewer women in senior management roles [4].
Certeva believes in and supports the elimination of all forms of discrimination against all women and harmful work practices. Certeva also endorses shared responsibility within the household and the family as nationally appropriate, and ensuring women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making. Certeva believes in and supports the leveraging of technologies and adoption of remote-working practices, to empower employees and business partners and help facilitate equal opportunities for all; in particular people who are caring for others or who have a disability.
Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
The frequency and severity of natural disasters such as wildfires, droughts, hurricanes and floods are all exacerbated by climate change [5]. More needs to be done to reverse the climate crisis.
Certeva is committed to operating a carbon-neutral business; to limit our contribution to human-induced global warming.
The Gold Standard is an independent, internationally recognized benchmark for carbon offset projects [6]. It was created by environmental and development NGOs, and is currently supported by more than 50 NGOs from around the world [6].
Carbon offsetting is an effective way to reduce emissions [6]. Certeva offsets its’ carbon emissions through The Gold Standard which simultaneously creates sustainable development benefits for communities [6].
Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
We encourage our employees to make sustainable decisions, to preserve and protect our planet. Through charitable giving, Certeva is able to magnify the positive impact we have on the environment and wildlife protection.
Certeva proudly supports the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth [7].
Goal 15: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
80% of land-dwelling species live in forests, along with 750 million people (including 60 million Indigenous people) [7]. Forests are an integral part of the global ecosystem, supporting economic development and providing a source of renewable raw materials. Yet only 10% of the world’s forests are certified as sustainably managed [8].
PEFC, the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, is a leading global alliance of national forest certification systems [8]. As an international non-profit, non-governmental organization, PEFC is dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification [8].
Certeva works with PEFC-certified companies to ensure that forest-based materials come from a PEFC-certified forest, thereby ensuring that forest will be around for generations to come.
Monitoring of our social impact and sustainability
At Certeva, we monitor and review our social impact and sustainability regularly. Every quarter, we evaluate our performance in three different areas and consider how we can better support Our Planet, Our People, and Our Society. At each Social Impact and Sustainability Review, we examine the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and consider how we can improve our social impact and sustainability.
What can we help you achieve?
